The Save the Peaks Coalition was formed
to address environmental and human rights issues caused by proposed ski resort development on the San Francisco Peaks, a mountain in Northern Arizona held sacred by over 13 Native American Nations.
The proposed development will further the desecration of this sacred site, increase threats to endangered species, and cause environmental destruction.
The Save the Peaks Coalition invites you to support and share your prayers and words on behalf of the Holy San Francisco Peaks. The Prayer Vigil will be in Flagstaff, AZ at Buffalo Park and begin at 1p.m. on Saturday, August 9th. Today, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in a split decision against Tribes and Environmentalists to allow snowmaking with wastewater on the Holy San Francisco Peaks. This is a call for all people of all faiths to come together in prayer and support of each other and our Holy Place. August 9th has also been sanctioned as International Day of the World's Indigenous People by the United Nations. We invite you to share in prayer.
Please be advised that although media is invited, this is not a press conference.
The prayers will continue during rain or shine so please be prepared for the beautiful weather that Northern Arizona offers!
