Two-Spirit Groups & Societies PDF  | Print |  E-mail

In 1975, the first organization founded by openly gay and lesbian Native Americans was Gay American Indians in San Francisco, California. Since that time, Native American LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people across the U.S. and Canada have organized and formed many groups and societies. Some of these trailblazing organizations are still in existence and have offered support to newly forming organizations. Two Spirit groups and societies are independent of each other, but they all share at least one thing in common, to support Native American LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people. The list of organizations on the right is a fraction of organizations in the US and Canada. We add organizations and descriptions when we get them. The map below lists more organizations with their contact information.
