“Native Gay Pride” on Native radio show

On Tuesday, November 8th, the Native America Calling (NAC) radio show will devote their hour-long program to discuss “Native Gay Pride.” Here is a description of NAC’s show:

The celebration of gender-variant people in Native circles is flourishing. Many Native lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgenders are out and proud. How are Native LGBT members celebrating their pride? What is the historical thought of Native LGBT individuals? Do they play a role traditionally? Have we learned to shun these individuals as another part of Western assimilation? Guests include: John “Hawk” Co-Cke (Osage/Peoria/Cherokee) HIV-AIDS Coordinator of the Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, Sherrick Roanhorse (Dine) founding member of the Dine Coalition for Cultural Preservation.

Native America Calling airs live Monday – Friday 1-2pm EST. NativeOUT encourages all GLBT Native Americans/Two-Spirits to participate. Call 1-800-99NATIV (1-800-996-2848) during the broadcast. To listen to the show, visit the NAC website at http://www.nativeamericacalling.com/nac_listen.shtml.
