NativeOUT to honor memories of Native Transgenders

NativeOUT members and friends will participate in the Arizona Transgender Day of Remembrance (http://www.azdor.org) where we will honor the memories of all transgenders that have fallen victim to hate crime murder. Beginning in November 1999, the Transgender Day of Remembrance has been observed in many cities worldwide. In vigils and memorial services, we honor the memory of persons murdered in the years past. This includes over twenty persons who have died from anti-transgender violence (hate crimes) worldwide in 2005. Certainly the total number is much greater than these reported cases.

We will especially honor the memories of three Native American transgenders, Amy Soos (Salt River Pima) and Fred Martinez, Jr. (Navajo), and Alejandro Ray Lucero (Hopi). Please join us at the Arizona State Capitol at 1700 W. Washington, Phoenix, Arizona, at 5:30pm on November 20, 2005.
