Las Vegas, May 11, 2009 ‐‐A new website aimed at creating awareness around HIV/AIDS for the Native American community has been established, entitled "Positive Native: Unheard Voices" and is accessible at www.positivenative.com. The initial basis for this site will serve as the foundation for American Indians who may be unaware of certain high risk behaviors that can potentially lead to HIV infection. The site was established using the history of Mr. Isadore Boni, a San Carlos Apache HIV Positive Male who has been featured in several local and national publications including, the Arizona Republic and POZ magazine. The site focuses on Isadore’s progression through certain behavior stages that led to infection and culminates in post infection ideas and attitudes regarding HIV and high risk behavior. In the future, the site will be home to stories regarding HIV infection in the American Indian community and serve as a resource for newly diagnosed individuals. Positive Native: Unheard Voices is a website designed by Mr. Kyle K. Ethelbah, MPH, of the White Mountain Apache Tribe who himself has been affected by the introduction of HIV to the American Indian community.
