Phoenix - Isadore was living on the streets of Phoenix when he was diagnosed with a co-infection of HIV and Hepatitis C on May 2, 2002.
After he completed a recovery program for his alcohol and drug addictions and found stable housing, he decided to publically announce his HIV status in a TV news story on World AIDS Day in 2004. Since that time he's toured the country, telling his story of how he was diagnosed, how his medical confidentiality broken, the stigma and homophobia he experienced, and the difficulties he's had on his journey to educate the world about Natives and HIV/AIDS. Isadore's latest project is www.apacheaidsproject.com, which he created to educate his tribal community and the world about HIV/AIDS. In video blogs, he documents his life with AIDS, taking us to the streets of Phoenix, his doctor's office, and his reservation.
Below is Isadore's introduction to his website. You can find his other video blogs on his website.
We at NativeOUT encourage you to attend a World AIDS Day event in your area.
